Profile

Christopher Guy Harrison, award-winning internationally renowned designer, is the founder and CEO of luxury furnishings brand, Christopher Guy. Born in Britain, raised in Spain and France, now residing in Singapore, Christopher’s international background helps him view the world through a critically constructive eye that draws in inspiration from everything he admires and transcends this into his designs.

When he decided to create the world’s finest designer furnishings, Christopher started with a clear objective – to make uniquely beautiful decorative furnishings that appeal to an international audience. Based on this design philosophy, Christopher Guy furnishings fuse a timeless beauty, elegance evocative of a cosmopolitan lifestyle, appealing to sophisticated and discerning audience across the globe.

Genesis

From an early age, Christopher was fascinated with elegance, which according to him is “a form of beauty topped with icing”. It was at the tender age of 16, when he worked with his stepfather to embark on their first building project – their very own home in the South of France, which ignited the sparks of passion for design, with his stepfather as a key source of inspiration.

Evolution

Christopher’s first creations were brought to life in the mid 90s when he set out to create the world’s most fabulous and largest mirror frame collection under the name of Harrison & Gil. To produce this repertoire of beautiful pieces, Christopher purchased a parcel of land in Central Java, Indonesia and began designing and building his workshops in 1999.

Following the phenomenal success of the mirror frame business, the core philosophy of creating beautiful, original mirror designs was carried through to a growing range of luxury furnishings and accessories collections. In 2006, the company, which comprised of both the original mirror frame line and new furnishings range, was renamed Christopher Guy to offer a complete lifestyle and luxury furniture collection.

Today

The Christopher Guy workshop in Central Java today covers one million square feet of land built amidst lush Javanese forest. Those who first set eyes on the site will believe it to be a vast centuries-old Spanish monastery, but this extraordinary structure was designed and built to reflect the sense of mystique and drama prevalent in the brand’s collection. More astonishingly, behind these imposing facades lays a state-of-the-art manufacturing base that is the workplace to 1400 of the world’s finest craftsmen.

A newly designed gallery presentation of Christopher Guy’s designs at Harrods in London was launched in June and attended by the “who’s who” of Harrods privileged clientele in a series of presentations and events. A state-of-the-art global flagship showroom that will be a model for showrooms around the world is under construction in one of Singapore’s prestigious locations overlooking the city-state’s majestic and inspiring skyline. The new 1,000 square meter showroom will serve as the model for Christopher Guy’s mono-branded showrooms across the globe.

“Regardless of whether the design piece leans towards modern or classic, above all else, it must be elegant in nature” Christopher said.
