An upright freezer and two larder fridges by leading Polish appliances brand, Amica were used by the contestants in the first series of Cookery School – the highly successful Channel 4 cooking competition currently being aired on Channel 4 and also available on 4oD.

Cookery School is a brand new 50-episode series and daily cookery competition, hosted by Irish Michelin Star celebrity chef Richard Corrigan and food writer, chef and TV presenter Gizzi Erskine. In the programme, Richard and Gizzi teach the essentials of cookery and the secrets of great cooking, from the basics to advanced levels including soufflés, oysters and sauces as well as techniques from spatchcocking to sugar spinning.

Each week, six home cooks from around the country push to master three mouth-watering recipes, battling it out to win a place in the finals. At the end of every week, one contestant goes through to the next round. There are eight weeks of heats before a week of semi-finals and the concluding week of the final. Contestants are judged on their passion and drive as well as their levels of improvement and potential.

In an interview with Channel 4, Gizzi described the series as “It’s like Masterchef meets Come Dine With Me, with maybe a little bit of The Apprentice thrown in.”

Amica supplied its FZ292FSX upright No Frost freezer and two of its FC362MSX larder fridges for use on the set to store the fresh meats, vegetables and other produce. At 185cm in height and A+ rated for energy efficiency with a number of shelves, a range of containers, Amica’s Door Bin Systems, an Eco function and electronic control panel, each of the matching appliances provided plenty of space and perfect conditions in which to store the ingredients.

Amica is listed as a supplier to the series on Channel 4’s 4food website. For further information or to browse Amica’s highly desirable appliances portfolio, visit www.amica-international.co.uk or call 01425 461600.
