Walbrook Building, London

Wieland Electric’s Metalynx structured wiring system has been used for the connection of power and lighting in The Walbrook Building, London. The prestigious new, purpose built office headquarters is occupied by a number of blue chip companies and is situated near to the Bank of England and directly opposite Cannon Street station.

Installed by mechanical and electrical specialists Bancroft, the recessed modular lighting and power has been fed via separate MDB’s using Metalynx, which has allowed the home runs to continue along the containment route out to the open plan areas. From there, fan coil units and LCMs were fed using Wieland’s extenders, tees and fused spurs. 3 core and Belden Metalynx leads were used to feed the LCM’s and the fused spurs have been fed by 3 core Metalynx leads. By using a structured wiring system, Bancroft could make the best use of the time on site and maximise productivity. Wieland also ensured that goods were delivered within the tight timescale given and offered on-site project management and technical support.

The Metalynx system was the preferred choice as it has been designed for efficient installation of lighting circuits and the other power requirements located above ceilings. All Metalynx cables are low-smoke, zero-Halogen insulated, with single cores compliant with BS 7211 and multi-cores constructed to BS 7211. The identification colours of the cores also comply with industry requirements.
