Drainage & Plumbing House & Housing

Social Housing Project, Ashton-under-Lyne

Share

Lindab’s steel based Rainline rainwater drainage system features on a multi award winning social housing project designed by leading environmental architects Denovo Design.

This new-build development of 43 bungalows and family houses on a brownfield site in Ashton-under-Lyne was so successful as a result of its high environmental and sustainable specifications that it has won many awards including: a Green & Silver Apple for the Build Environment, RICS Sustainability award, National Home Improvement Council’s Best Public Development using recycled land and a Building for Life award.

The objectives of the development were to replace run-down Victorian terraced houses with high quality, affordable, energy-efficient dwellings in a safe and visually attractive environment.

The façade materials combined locally supplied red brickwork and the roofs are of traditional pitch form, covered in grey slate coloured tiles.

Liverpool based Denovo Design incorporated as many sustainable products and technologies as possible into the construction of the scheme owned by the Regenda Group.

Having specified Lindab’s Rainline for previous sustainable housing developments, Rainline’s vandal resistance features and durability of Rainline were of particular importance to Denovo Design for this development.

Other factors that influenced Denovo’s decision to use Rainline instead of a UPVC system were ‘its minimal movement, its strength, ease of installation and importantly, Rainline itself has an extremely low carbon footprint compared to other systems’.

Why Rainline is often specified for Social Housing Projects

house2Rainline totally outperforms plastic in every respect – offering minimal movement and UV stability, it will not crack, fade or leak, is highly resistant to corrosion and virtually maintenance free.

Comparable in price to a mid range plastic system, Rainline is also much less expensive than aluminium and cast iron drainage.

Quick and easy to install, Rainline is precision engineered by Lindab to simply click together for a perfect watertight fit – just click, fit and forget it. On site labour time and costs are kept to a minimum- no special tools are required either.

Rainline is manufactured from 30% recycled material and is itself completely recyclable – so no need to worry about costly disposal problems or the likely impact on the environment.

Available in 10 stylish high build polyester colours, the finish of which is guaranteed for 15 years including the increasingly popular Silver Metallic, Rainline is also available in a natural copper finish and Aluzinc.

Rainline is supported by a range of comprehensive performance and installation guarantees to give total peace of mind for the designer and building owner.
