ECE Architecture, based in Worthing, West Sussex, has specified Broadrib and Array carpet tiles from Heckmondwike FB as part of the refurbishment of Portland House, on behalf of Adur and Worthing Council.

The project involved the supply of over 2000m2 of Heckmondwike carpet tiles for the office refurbishment. This included 708 m2 of Array in purple, which was complemented by 415m2 of Broadrib in purple and 444 m2 of Array in blue, which co-ordinates with 190 m2 in blue. On this project, the accent colours were used to define the walkways around the perimeter of offices and for demarcation of the fire exits, as well as to add design and detail. For the common areas, 272m2 of Array in black was specified and 50m2 of Diamond in charcoal, for the entrance areas.

Gary Kelly, Architect at ECE in Worthing, said: “We had specified Heckmondwike carpet before and particularly like the Array range and how it can be complemented by the accent colours, for which we chose blue and purple. The accent colours clearly mark the large open plan work areas into zones for ease of navigating the building, as well as breaking up large areas of flooring and adding an extra element of design.”

Array is the latest addition to Heckmondwike FB’s creative flooring range and is proving popular for both commercial and education environments. The carpet was installed by Vagg Flooring of Goring-by-Sea and the main contractor for the refurbishment of the building was Morgan Siddall. Abby Chandler, Marketing Manager for Heckmondwike FB, said: “Our new Array tiles are providing a very popular choice when used with our Broadrib tile to suit a wide range of commercial and educational environments. They were the perfect choice for this refurbishment project as they allow for the creation of a contemporary and durable work space.”

Heckmondwike FB’s Array and Broadrib carpet tiles are British-made and provide long term durability and performance. They offer excellent value for money and are supplied with a 10-year limited wear warranty and that means that they can be specified in complete confidence. Both are anti-slip tiles, which will not ravel or fray and their strong thermal properties mean they effectively conserve heat. Both Broadrib and Array offer acoustic properties that reduce noise pollution, which makes them ideal for multi-occupancy buildings. Both ranges are popular with contractors as they can be cut on site without risk of fraying, which allows individual flooring designs to be created and installed with ease.

The Array tiles feature a mid-width rib design, with a charcoal background enhanced with a subtle linear pattern in either Red, Blue, Purple, Lime, Magenta or Black.

Broadrib has a wider rib structure than some other Fibre Bonded carpet products, creating a defined contrast in its texture. Available in 24 colour options, Broadrib is widely specified in public buildings, libraries, retail outlets and in the commercial sector.

Diamond is popular for creating an eye-catching entrance area with its cobbled-effect surface. It has acoustic properties to reduce noise pollution and offers low maintenance costs, helping to protect the carpet throughout a building by removing shoeborne dirt, grit and moisture. Diamond is available in 10 popular colours.

Heckmondwike FB carpets and carpet tiles are available with full technical support, as part of the service. All fibre bonded products are manufactured by Heckmondwike FB at its base in West Yorkshire, where the company is fully certified to ISO 14001, as part of its commitment to sustainability.
