Stubbs Rich Architects has begun work on Phase 2 of a £15 million project at Milton Park in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
The first two of four three-storey office buildings at Milton Park, which is owned by MEPC, were quickly let and are now fully occupied. Phase 2, the next two buildings, is thought to be the first speculative office development to be built in the Thames Valley since 2008. The development is located within the Government’s Science Vale UK Enterprise Zone.
Bath based Stubbs Rich specialise in designing workplace accommodation in which knowledge-based businesses can thrive: adaptable, contemporary and inspiring. The two new buildings, each approximately 3,000sqm, will achieve an “excellent” BREEAM rating.
Stubbs Rich partner David Beckett said: “We believe it is important for new buildings to be adaptable if they are to have longevity. The interiors should be flexible, allowing for different uses over the course of the life of the building. MEPC is showing that this is true in the Science Vale UK Enterprise Zone by starting construction of its largest office development at Milton Park for over 10 years – so it is a really important step that will create 500 new local jobs.”
