Howarth continues to champion the environment

Share

Award-winning merchant Howarth Timber and Building Supplies is continuing to invest in sustainability, having trained ‘Green Champions’ in each of its 28 branches across England.

The company, which opened the Howarth GreenHouse in Rochdale in 2012, has trained its Green Champions in all things sustainable and armed each of them with a 360-page ‘Green Bible’, incorporating relevant legislation, green initiatives and product detail.

Green Champions are tasked with helping to drive traffic to the GreenHouse, which is an award-winning, dedicated training centre for sustainability, providing self-builders, specifiers, contractors, tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts with a knowledge resource.

Green Champions, who are promoted in every Howarth store, can advise customers about environmental issues and best practice and also explain Howarth’s ongoing commitment to and involvement in sustainability.

Driving the Green Champion initiative is Howarth’s sustainability development manager Jay Pickup.

Jay said: “Sustainability is at the heart of Howarth and we’re delighted that our team of Green Champions is spreading the environmental word in each of our branches and helping to promote our GreenHouse.

“We have an ongoing commitment to the environment and to ensuring our customers are up-to-speed with new products, legislation and initiatives, in order to help drive business to them in an ever-changing industry.

“We have also expanded our fully certified supply and fit service, to help maintain business for our customers.

“We plan to continue our sustainability work and remain committed to spreading the green word for the foreseeable future.”
