Open plan homes are popular, make good use of space, and are more valuable, but fire safety and building control approval problems have caused many architects to avoid them for some years. Automist from Plumis now allows many open plan layouts in flats and three storey houses to comply with building regulations without recourse to a sprinkler system, and is covered by an LABC Registered Detail for rapid approval.
