University Square Stratford, London

Heckmondwike FB’s innovative Montage carpet tiles have been specified for a flagship new education centre, known as University Square, a collaboration between the University of East London, in partnership with Birkbeck University.

University Square, which opened in November 2013, features 4,100m2 of Montage fibre bonded carpet, which was specified by Make Architects in Flint.

The Ockendon Academy, Essex

Two new timber buildings at Ockendon Academy have seen use of 53 FAKRO Electro roof windows with blinds. 16 were installed in the 7-classroom English block while 37 were used on the larger ‘Ockendon Studio School’, a self-contained 6th form facility for year 12 and 13 students. Cabinco, which specialises in eco building,and the construction of sustainable school buildings in particular, was main contractor for both projects.

A new heat pump installation in a private school in Surrey has benefited from a stand-by boiler supplied by Atlantic Boilers of Oldham. Halliford School in Shepperton is a small independent day school for boys aged 11-18 and girls aged 16-18. Set on the river Thames a Georgian House is at the centre of the school. Behind the house are modern buildings and the newly built Music, Art and Sixth Form Centre.

James Jones Timber Systems supplies one of the UK’s largest cassette-built school roofs

Sandfields Primary School Port Talbot is one of the largest projects of its kind to have a roof built using roof cassettes. James Jones & Sons Ltd, Timber Systems Division, undertook the fabrication drawings for the project and supplied their UK manufactured, FSC registered JJI-Joists to cassette manufacturer NYT (North Yorkshire Timber) in 220mm, 350mm and 450mm sizes. NYT in turn produced 4000m2 of roof cassettes in varying lengths up to 12m, for roofing erectors and SIPS suppliers Hemsec Installations.
