Iron technology leader Saint-Gobain PAM UK, part of international materials company Saint-Gobain, has secured a prestigious contract to supply its cast iron Timesaver below ground drainage range to the new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

Saint-Gobain2With their highly coveted Kitemark BS 437 accreditation, Timesaver chambers and fittings have been selected thanks to their strength and quality performance with particular suitability for use inside buildings. The Timesaver chambers also score highly in the area of protecting the manhole from surcharging – a key attribute in hospitals where there is a real need to limit spread of infection – and sustainability, being produced from 97 per cent recycled material.

The new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is due to open in 2015 and will be the UK’s first children’s ‘health park’. The cutting edge project has been contracted for construction to Laing O’Rourke, with the Timesaver range selected by its subsidiary, Expanded Structures.

Richard Smith, Technical Sales Manager at Saint-Gobain PAM UK, said: “The Timesaver Range of pipes and fittings are the ideal products for this job. Installation will be a simple ‘fit and forget’ process, giving peace of mind to the installer and end user.”

The 51,000m² hospital, to be located adjacent to the existing Alder Hey Hospital in Springfield Park, will house 270 beds and 16 state-of-the-art operating theatres.
